Available to people 14 - 25 years

We are an 'Access Provider' for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards

We provide for the 'Skills' and 'Service' certificate for bronze, silver and gold awards

Duke of Edinburgh Skills and Volunteer sessions. We recommend a 2 hr session. starting at 10.30 am - 12.30 pm. Days are Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Licensed DofE organisations are welcome to bring a "work party" if this suites your planning for running DofE

 Participants will learn a significant amount about caring for our natural environment wild flower meadows and other conservation projects and be involved in the development of our 10 acre nature reserve and education centre.

The scheme is sponsored by the Heritage Lottery fund

Activities vary but listed below are some of the conservation work you can expect to do

August Hay making and meadow management
September Propagation, plant centre work
October Seed sewing. Hedge pruning
November Tree Planting,
December Coppicing and pruning, Path edging
January Leaf raking, tidy woodland paths
Feb/March Painting benches and signage support

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SKILLS:  CONSERVATION - this will include, conservation, meadow making and management (propagation, cultivation, use of machinery, soil management, plant identification, development of wildlife habitats, woodland management)

VOLUNTEERING: ENVIRONMENT - this will include, helping to develop and maintain a conservation area and field study centre and fund raising
